"Candle in the Wind" was originally released in 1973 on the album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. It was written to honor movie legend Marilyn Monroe. With the tragedy of Princess Dianna's death in 1997, Bernie Taupin (Elton John's co-writer/lyricist) revamped the lyrics for a special version which Elton John performed at Di's funeral. The '97 version of the song was then released as a single. It went on to become the biggest selling single of all time, selling 31.8 million copies and earning it a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
